M53 Ford Proud Sponsors of Paul Hanagan

M53 Ford sponsored jockey Paul Hanagan is up for another Lester

Britain's Champion Flat Jockey for the second consecutive year is in line for more honours after being nominated for two of the ten awards at the 22nd Stobart Lesters on April 5 2012.

The Lesters, which is a highlight of the year for Jockeys, celebrates the Jockey profession and honours their achievements. Paul, who lifted three awards at last year's ceremony, is one of four jockeys nominated for Flat Jockey of the Year and Flat Ride of the Year, with Silvestre De Sousa, Paul’s closest 2011 championship rival, also nominated in both categories.

Paul is in the running for Flat Ride of the Year, an award that is sponsored by the Racing Post, for his thrilling victory aboard Barefoot Lady in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket last April, steeling the race on the line from Ballydoyle favourite Sing Softly.

Paul expressed delight and feels “truly honoured to be nominated once again for two awards this year.”

The Most Fuel Efficient Petrol-Powered Ford Ever

Ford has started production of the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost powered Ford Focus, using the most advanced petrol engine Ford has ever produced. It will deliver better performance than a traditional 1.6-litre petrol engine, with significantly improved fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. With three cylinders and advanced turbo charging technology, the new EcoBoost cylinder block can fit onto a sheet of A4 paper yet delivers up to 125PS of power.

The benefits the new 1.0litre EcoBoost engine will bring to our customers will be;
- Best in class CO2 performance for petrol engines of these power outputs
- Maximum engine torque from 1500rpm, providing excellent drivability
- Outstanding fuel economy; up to 58.9 MPG combined cycle, with petrol up to 10p per litre
- cheaper than diesel
- Low Vehicle Excise Duty; standard rate of £20 p.a. for the 100PS version. Nil in first year.

We are looking forward to being able to bring the benefits of lower cost of motoring from the most advanced Ford petrol engine to our customers very soon.

 On the road to glory!

Last Friday was a huge day for 17-year-old Billy Bridge from Ellesmere Port as he was presented with the keys to a new Ford by non other than Her Majesty The Queen. Billy is set to be a future Paralympian as part of Great Britain's wheelchair basketball team and was selected, along with six other British Paralympians, to meet The Queen and receive keys to his brand new Ford car to celebrate the Motability scheme having sold its three millionth car.

M53 Ford has long supported the Motability scheme and has resident Motability experts in both our Wirral branches.

Billy was delighted when he picked up his specially adapted, all-new Focus 1.6 Powershift on Monday at our M53 Ford Ellesmere Port branch. If you are interested in learning more about the Motability scheme and how M53 Ford can help, then visit our Motability page.

To help get business drivers on the road, M53 Ford has recruited its first-ever local business development specialist. With a wealth of experience in the motor trade, including 22 years as a van and truck sales manager, 11 years with his own car rental company and eight as an area sales manager for a leading car and van rental firm, John is fully aware of what the customer needs and expects.

M53 Ford Race For Life

The girls of M53 Ford were out in force this month raising money for Cancer Research UK. 10 girls from both our Birkenhead and Ellesmere port dealerships tackled the 5km course around Birkenhead Park during the Wirral Race for Life event. M53 Ford was keen to support Cancer Research UK as they rely entirely on funding from the public. The girls, who donned their pink M53 Ford hats for the race, together managed to raise over £1000 to help with cancer research and care for those affected by cancer.

M53 Ford has just been named the winner of Ford’s prestigious Chairman’s Award for the second year in a row.

The award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to customer satisfaction and it is a source of tremendous pride for all the staff at M53 Ford to have been recognised as the best once again.
To win the award, the dealerships in Ellesmere Port and Birkenhead had to meet and exceed the expectations of their customers in all aspects of customer care. The award was presented to Managing Director Tom McPhail, on board a cruise ship chartered by Ford of Europe. On winning the award Tom said, “to win the Chairman’s Award in consecutive years is a truly outstanding achievement and is tribute to the efforts made by our staff and acknowledged by our much valued and respected loyal customers”.

Stephen T Odell, Chairman and CEO of Ford Europe had this to say about the awards: “The Chairman’s Award is our highest honour for dealers. Only the best and most successful Ford dealers in Europe can qualify for the Chairman’s Award. We want every customer to be completely satisfied with every aspect of their Ford ownership. The Chairman’s Award is our way of ensuring that we continue to focus on setting new standards of customer satisfaction and loyalty.”

M53 Ford helps keep Claire House on the road

Claire house is a valuable local charity based in Bebington, which offers hospice facilities for children and young adults with life threatening or life limiting conditions. Without guaranteed government funding Claire House needs to raise over £2.5m each year to maintain the level of service it provides. To help this charity work continue, M53 Ford has donated an all new Ford Focus to keep Claire House on the road.

“It allows us to be accessible to every local community,” explains Katie Cartwright, Senior Claire House Cheshire area fundraiser. “We need transport in order to arrange fundraising visits, events and deliver merchandise. It helps us to raise awareness of what goes on here.”

Claire house not only supports children and young adults, it also focuses on the needs of the whole family, providing bereavement and other support for as long as necessary. The charity helps families across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man. M53 Ford’s events director, Carol McPhail, handed over the keys of the brand new Ford Focus to Claire House’s Abbey Smith. The car will allow the Claire House Charity workers to travel in comfort and safety, with a smooth compliant ride and positive handling helped by its sophisticated electronic traction system. M53 Ford is proud to be able to support Claire House with their vital charity work across the area.
