Ford B-Max Overview
The Ford B-MAX has been developed especially for the urban driver. While compact in size, its ingenious, easy-access door system gives you a 1.5m wide aperture to a spacious and refined interior.
Alongside its unique design, the B-MAX has a multitude of technologies to make driving easier, more enjoyable and more efficient. For example, Active City Stop* helps prevent collisions in slow-moving traffic, by automatically braking for you, if necessary. With Ford SYNC® you can control your music and phone, with simple voice commands – SYNC® can even read out your text messages. A revolutionary 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine delivers the power of a 1.6, with outstanding fuel economy.
*Active City Stop is an optional feature available at extra cost.
The B-MAX brakes for you, to avoid low speed collisions
The innovative Active City Stop helps you soften, or even avoid, a collision in slow-moving traffic or at speeds up to 19 mph. If the system detects the car in front has unexpectedly stopped, it automatically applies the brakes.
Extra control during hill starts
Hill Start Assist stops you rolling backwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces. (Hill start assist is not available with the 1.4 litre petrol engine)
Easier reversing with a Rear View Camera
Bollards, low walls, kids playing… the Rear View Camera shows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the display on your dashboard. As well as showing you things you might miss, it helps you park, by displaying virtual lines to guide you into the smallest space. For added convenience, the Rear View Camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.
Sensors that take the stress out of parking
Optional Parking Distance Sensors help you judge the distance between your car and an obstacle, in front or behind you. They set off an audible warning that intensifies, the closer you get. The feature is designed to help you park quickly and confidently.
Specially strengthened body shell
The car’s body has been specially strengthened in key areas, to offset the removal of the traditional central pillar (B-pillar) in the easy-access door system. This is because the B-MAX has its B-pillar integrated into the doors themselves.
Ford safety engineers even devised their own additional impact test, to ensure the B-MAX meets the highest safety standards.
Coordinated safety systems activate in a split-second
The B-MAX is equipped with an advanced Intelligent Protection System (IPS), which coordinates a series of safety systems to offer maximum protection for you and your passengers.
As well as the rigid, impact-absorbing bodyshell, there is advanced seat and seat belt technology, to reduce the chance of injury in the event of an accident.
Airbags to shield you from all angles
In addition to the driver and passenger front airbags, there are side airbags with thorax protection and curtain airbags with head protection. There’s even an airbag to protect the driver’s knees.
If for any reason you want your airbag switched off, for example a baby or toddler is travelling in a rear-facing seat, the B-MAX has made this very easy for you. By the flick of a switch the passenger airbag can be deactivated which is then shown by a light in the instrument cluster to provide a useful reminder.
